Peace’s Vision: As Christians, we joyfully welcome into God’s house all people, celebrating our diversity in race, gender, age, sexual orientation, gender identities, gender expression, nationality, faith background, education, and abilities.

Chartered in June 2012, Peace is a young congregation with all of the energy, curiosity and wide-eyed optimism that youth brings with it. It can also be said that we have an old soul, balancing our youthful outlook with the wisdom and compassion that come with years of experience exploring God’s word and call in our lives. Our congregation is a visionary one, led by the simple notion, modeled for us by Christ, that all of the world’s people yearn for peace, acceptance and wholeness.

Peace is on the move…for real. Call it youthful exuberance, but we want to be a part of our local community as much as we want the community to grow with us. In our relatively short time together as a congregation , we have established a warm, sacred home in south Kansas City (the Barstow School at 115th and State Line) for morning worship. We’ve also explored the city together, creating our own brand of worship in spaces as diverse as a Buddhist center, the “front yard” of a community center, a downtown coffee house, until finally, coming to rest at our home in the Center for Architecture at 18th and McGee, an historic building that offers a view of our vibrant city for our worship backdrop.

Peace is a vibrant, informed, engaged worshiping community. The peace and love of Christ help us to take what we know about our community and the world to act as God’s hands on the earth and to be the face of God to everyone we meet.

Peace Christian Church UCC is affiliated with the  United Church of Christ (UCC) and the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ).

The United Church of Christ extends an extravagant welcome to all—no matter who you are, or where you are on life’s journey, you’re welcome here. The UCC is a welcoming, justice-minded Christian community.

At a time when religion is too often portrayed as narrow-minded and exclusive, many are raising their VOICES for an alternate vision:

  • Where God is all-loving and inclusive
  • Where the Church of Jesus Christ welcomes and accepts everyone as they are
  • Where your mind is nourished as much as your soul
  • Where Jesus the healer meets Jesus the revolutionary
  • Where together we grow a just and peaceful world
