a Path to Peace – February 11

February 11, 2018                                                                                Sixth Sunday after Epiphany

Personal Prayer:

I can feel your spirit lighting me from the inside.

This week’s Prayer for Peace:

Creator, we live according to your plan, our personalities, gifts, hard won talents, and our histories all come together to create unique individuals. And yet we all have the same needs and dreams and fears. Help us to notice this very moment and to create moments of calm, of creative exploration, of warm and open interactions, and of wondrous joy. Help us to feel the loving kindness that is your spirit that washes in, through and around us. The spirit that you’ve shown in our hearts and that we can share with others. Amen.

Lectionary Readings:

Mark 1:40-45 – Jesus gave a stern warning and sent the healed leper off.

2 Kings 2:1-12 – “As God lives and as you live, I will not leave you.”

Psalm 50:1-6 – God comes and won’t be silent.

2 Corinthians 4:3-6 – For God has shown in our hearts.

Moment for Peace:

We are all complete people- novels, not short stories. Blogs, not memes. We are good and bad, happy and sad, generous and selfish, loving and fearful. And every last bit of our history and every single personality quirk is important. Jesus healing and then sternly warning the leper. Difficult decisions and discussions at work and home. If there’s one thing that is sure it’s that life is complex. If we live it with love and openness we will make mistakes but we’ll reap the rewards of richness and joy.
