Sharing Happiness – Part 64

My favorite podcast, “Pop Culture Happy Hour” ends their show with each member saying what made them happy the previous week. The rule is that it must be something anyone could enjoy if they chose (i.e., books, movies, twitter feeds, albums).

JB: We visited the recently renovated and re-opened Harry S. Truman Library and Museum. We had timed tickets for 1:30 p.m., but we did not realize it closed at 3:00 p.m. on that day. It would take about 4 hours to see everything. It is very well done and worth going again soon.

MB: We’re at the phase of life where it’s increasingly difficult to plan a summer family vacation. I don’t want to go back to traveling with preschoolers but coordinating older kids’ schedules is also not for the faint of heart. My son might be working at scout camp, and my daughter is applying for any graphic design / museum exhibit design internship she can find. Let us know if you have any connections! So, even if we might not take a family trip, thinking about potential destinations makes me happy. Currently we’re considering a weekend trip to Philadelphia with a quick trip to see Trenton, NJ, which would be state capitol #36.

EB: I spent part of my spring break attending a college media conference in Long Beach, CA. The conference was excellent, but because of the Sunday ice storm here in Kansas City, the final leg of our flight was cancelled. Instead, we spent 2 extra days at a random hotel in Dallas, TX. As someone with a lot of food restrictions, I am happy DoorDash exists. Because I go to college in a small rural town, we do not have DoorDash, so I’ve never used it. But if you’re stuck and need food, it’s great. We used it to deliver some Shake Shack (gluten free fries for the win), and it made me very happy.

CB: We had virtual school this week. One of our band assignments was to make a playlist of 5-10 songs we would include on a new Voyager space craft Golden Record. It was interesting to see what songs were selected to represent all of humankind’s musical history for previous Voyager missions. My picks for the new one were from the Civilization 6 soundtrack, which has a variety of cultural sounds, and is great study music.

Bonus Recommendation: We watched The Adam Project on Netflix. It stars Ryan Reynolds, Mark Ruffalo, Zoe Saldana, Jennifer Garner, and Catherine Keener. Ryan Reynolds accidently goes back to the wrong time and meets his 12-year-old self. They partner to save the future. It’s Ryan Reynolds at his most Ryan Reynolds-y.
