Sharing Happiness – Part 66

My favorite podcast, “Pop Culture Happy Hour” ends their show with each member saying what made them happy the previous week. The rule is that it must be something anyone could enjoy if they chose (i.e., books, movies, twitter feeds, albums).

JB:  I am currently playing Star Wars: Jedi Fallen Order, which is a good, but not great video game.  I ran across a review of the game on YouTube by “Girlfriend Reviews”.  It was a hilarious and thoughtful review that gave me new insights about the game’s design, development, and business model as one of the first video games released after Disney’s purchase of the Star Wars franchise.  The channel covers contemporary pop culture like video games and movies.  It’s told from a female point of view, which is a change of pace from the other pop culture YouTube channels I watch, which tend to be created by men.

MB:  I struggled if I should make this recommendation, but I trust Peace people to do some research to see if our recommendations would make sense for them and their families.  We watched Our Flag Means Death, and it’s like nothing I’ve ever seen before.  It is so strange, but heartfelt.  I appreciate Taika Waititi’s sensibility.  However, it is very much an adult show.

EB:  I have finals last week (May 2-6), and one of my favorite ways to procrastinate has been Bridgerton, Season 2.  I’ve only watched the first four episodes, but so far, I’m really enjoying it.

CB:  Mission:  Board Games just opened a store in the Northland, and it’s amazing.  They also have a store in Mission, KS.  They host a weekly Friday night Magic games night, where you can play Magic the Gathering with other people.  The workers are extremely knowledgeable.  So, if you’re in the market for a new board game or want to get into Magic the Gathering, I highly recommend checking it out.

Bonus Recommendation:  We were recently reminded of Gosford Park.  At a very important part of the story, Helen Mirren’s character talks about rotating linens.  It holds up very well after 20 years.  It’s a very British movie with an all-star, ensemble cast with some of Britain’s best actors and the very American Robert Altman as the director.  We own the DVD, so I’m not sure if it is available on a streaming platform.
