Sharing Happiness – Part 74

My favorite podcast, “Pop Culture Happy Hour” ends their show with each member saying what made them happy the previous week. The rule is that it must be something anyone could enjoy if they chose (i.e., books, movies, twitter feeds, albums).

JB:  Sweet Emotion is a vegan ice cream shop inside Company & Co., one of our favorite coffee shops in downtown North Kansas City.  It’s open in the evenings, Wednesday – Sunday, from 4:00 – 10:00 p.m.  It’s a similar texture to dole whip, but with more flavor/topping options.

MB:  We started watching Andor, and it’s so good!  Although set in the Star Wars Universe (it takes place before Episode IV: A New Hope), it is not your typical Star Wars story.  It is about people living with and reacting to growing oppression and tyranny.  Knowing the background from the movies is helpful, but you do not have to know anything about the Star Wars universe to appreciate it.  It is so much better than the Obi-Wan and The Book of Boba Fett series.  So, if you had given up on Disney+ Star Wars filler stories, like I had, I encourage you to give Andor a chance.

EB:  For Christmas my parents gave me dog shampoo from Top Off Refillery, which is located in downtown Parkville.  They offer high quality, eco-friendly sustainable goods.  You can bring or buy a bottle and then refill it, eliminating the need for any new plastic bottles.  They sell body wash, laundry detergent, soaps, and other eco-friendly household essentials.  I also received an Emilie Rigby ornament.  She makes handmade ornaments using molds from the 1880s.  She pours melted tin and solders various glass pieces to make dazzling ornaments.  Supporting small artists makes me happy.

CB:  At recent family Christmas party, I played Wits and Wagers.  It’s a trivia betting game that’s easy to learn.  The answers are all numerical, so no spelling required.  For example, how many calories are in the quadruple bypass burger at the Las Vegas restaurant?  Or what percentage of Minnesota is covered by water?

Bonus Recommendation:  It’s not revelatory to recommend the number one movie streaming on Netflix, but Glass Onion:  A Knives Out Mystery is worth the time.
