Sharing Happiness – Part 76

My favorite podcast, “Pop Culture Happy Hour” ends their show with each member saying what made them happy the previous week. The rule is that it must be something anyone could enjoy if they chose (i.e., books, movies, twitter feeds, albums).

JB:  We re-watched The World’s End with Simon Pegg and Nick Frost.  It’s the third and final movie in the Three Flavours Cornetto trilogy (Shaun of the Dead and Hot Fuzz are the first two in the trilogy) directed by Edgar Wright.  Shaun of the Dead is a send up of zombie movies.  Hot Fuzz is a send up of buddy cop movies.  The World’s End is a send up of alien invasion movies.  If you haven’t seen any of these movies and appreciate British humor with great British actors, then give them a try.

MB:  In five days, I saw three live music concerts.  I’m sharing this because you could attend any of them next year.  They were all free, but you had to get tickets for the Gem Theater and the Kauffman Center.  Caleb’s high school performed at Jazzin’ at the Gem and the Kansas City Classic Orchestra and Band Festival at the Kauffman Center.  Caleb and I also saw the UMKC band perform at White Recital Hall.

EB:  For my birthday, we always enjoy a special dinner.  This year we went to Clay and Fire in Westside KCMO.  It was amazing and easy for me to order even with my gluten-free / dairy-free diet.  I highly recommend

CB:  After watching The Last of Us on HBO, I started playing the video game.  It is very similar to the show, with just a few differences.  It’s a challenging but fun game to play if you are enjoying the show.

Bonus Recommendation:  We’re watching Season 3 of The Mandalorian.  It’s a little clunky so far, but we’re still hopeful this season will be as good as the previous two.
