Sharing Happiness – Part 67

My favorite podcast, “Pop Culture Happy Hour” ends their show with each member saying what made them happy the previous week. The rule is that it must be something anyone could enjoy if they chose (i.e., books, movies, twitter feeds, albums).

JB: At the end of May, I was the tour guide for my mom, younger brother, sister-in-law, and niece for a one-week trip in England. Our daughter, who was on the tail end of a European study-abroad trip and was in London, also came along. We spent 3 days in York, 3 days in London, and 1 day in Dover. I highly recommend them all. However, the best thing about the trip was the BritRail passes we used to take trains and avoid using a rental car or bus tour. BritRail passes give you unlimited train trips for the number of days you buy. You just hop on the train and away you go. And the train stations in England are an experience all their own.

MB: My son and I watched several movies while the rest of our family was abroad. My favorite was The Rescue, a National Geographic documentary about a Thai boy’s soccer team that was stuck inside a huge cave. It’s streaming on Disney+.

EB:  I spent most of May on a Mass Media and Communications Study Abroad trip with 15 other students and 2 faculty.  We visited several European cities and countries, which did make me happy.  But what I’m sharing is my Atom shoes I wore during the trip.  They are so perfect for walking.  I highly recommend.

CB: My cross-country team has informal summer running until the season starts. If you’re looking for a fun group of people to run with and like teenagers, we meet at the gazebo in Macken Park every morning at 7:30 a.m.

Bonus Recommendation: The other thing we did was play solitaire with actual cards. We’d both play and see who won first. Frequently, neither of us won before we had to stop, but sometimes, someone would pull out a victory. Also, my son perfected his bridge shuffling technique. So, if you have a few minutes and a deck of cards, a game of solitaire is a great way to pass the time.
